The Freshstop ‘Store of the Year’ Award has always been the most coveted award in our Group and the battle for supremacy in our competitive environment has never gone uncontested. The recognition and prestige of being crowned ‘FreshStop Store of the Year’ is a motivating factor which has spurned on many retailers to groom their businesses for glory.
Apart from additional bragging and marketing rights, the Winner and Runner Up in each category usually gets treated to an all-expenses paid trip to the NACS Show in the USA. However, due to the COVID pandemic-related travelling restrictions, we have decided to rather award the winners with a cash prize this year.
The ‘Freshstop Store of the Year Award’ criteria takes various factors into consideration, such as audit scores, fruit & veg and Foodserve performance, and sales growth. A weighting system is then applied to level the playing field between older and newer sites as well as sites with served and self-service kitchens to give all retailers an equal opportunity to raise the trophy in victory. As the saying goes, “it’s tough at the top” and the 10th ranked site is normally less than 3% off from pipping the winner.
This year we have also decided to recognise the Regional Store of the Year winners, which are very well deserved. Not only do the aforementioned winners deserve acknowledgment but there are also some outstanding achievements that warrant recognition. The winners are as follows:
