FreshStop, the fastest growing 24-hour convenience store retail brand in South Africa, is spreading its wings to Pretoria with the opening of its 228th national store. Offering a diversified range of goods and services for the convenience of local residents and commuters, FreshStop at Caltex Excelsior opened on Thursday, 11 August 2016 at the corner of Trichardt Road and Cradock Avenue, Lyttelton Manor in Pretoria. Previously a Star Mart, the site has been upgraded and refurbished to meet FreshStop at Caltex’s standards and also features the latest 20/20 Caltex imagery. “Our forecourt has been reinvigorated and now incorporates four six-nozzle pumps as well as high-speed diesel pumps. This renovation has made it possible for our customers to enjoy quick and easy fill ups at all hours,” says Martin Speek, the Store Retailer.

FreshStop Excelsior offers its customers a range of fresh fruit and vegetables, grocery items, and Grab ‘n Go snacks such as freshly-made sandwiches, pies and refreshments. In addition, a full-service Lavazza Coffee is available in-store with a Barista offering incredible coffee. The availability of an Aramex overnight courier, and Capitec and Standard Bank ATMs offers additional convenience. “FreshStop Excelsior will become a routine stop for commuter traffic travelling along Trichardt Road and Cradock Avenue, not only as a refuelling stop, but also for those seeking a healthy snack or convenient grocery stop on their way home. Our presence in this area is about more than just convenience to our customers. It is also a friendly stop-off for customers to pick up lunch, dinner, coffee or treats on their way to or from home, which then makes it an invaluable and pleasurable time saver in their day,” explains Martin.

With a Mechanical Engineering degree and a successful 24-year long career within the corporate sector, Martin Speek made a conscious decision to become a part of the FreshStop at Caltex brand. His keen interest towards making his community a more convenient friendly environment inspires his passion to deliver quality goods and services to his community. “My post-graduate training in senior management and advanced project management at the University of Pretoria stands me in good stead and provides me with the necessary skills needed to successfully operate this store. This is something I have been looking forward to and now that we are here, I am definitely excited and looking forward to making the changes I want to see in convenience shopping,” says Martin.

“We are indeed very excited to be a part of the FreshStop family that caters for the needs of the local community around them. This conversion has been a long anticipated one and we have no doubt that it will be warmly welcomed by everyone in the community”.

We wish Martin and his entire team all the best for the opening of this 228th FreshStop at Caltex Excelsior store.
