One of the most exciting store openings of the year took place on 15 November 2018 as FreshStop at Caltex Heidelberg opened its doors at 1 Eksteen Street, Heidelberg in the Western Cape, just off the N2 highway. The new FreshStop at Caltex site, previously a BP garage, has been developed as a shopping and dining destination. The site offers the local community and passing travellers a brand new Caltex fuel forecourt, a 24-hour FreshStop convenience store, an in-store Seattle Coffee bar, a KFC, a Spur Grill & Go outlet as well as an ATM-centre representing all the major banks.
“It is indeed a one-stop solution for everyone’s needs,” says Joe Boyle, Director at FreshStop. “FreshStop Heidelberg has created a mini business hub within the town that will appeal to local residents and tourists. The new site includes well-known brand names, which makes FreshStop Heidelberg an attractive stop-off point for people travelling to and from the Garden Route.”
The Caltex fuel forecourt is owned and operated by Sentraal Suid Koöp (SSK) and the FreshStop store is owned and operated by MOOV Fuel, which has its roots in the Overberg. From its inception in 1956 when Piet Erasmus started a transport business in Bredasdorp, the company has evolved into an energy distribution network that provides fuel to Caltex retailers, industry, agriculture and other commercial customers throughout the Western Cape. The complete knock-down and rebuilding of the site has resulted in 45 new jobs being created for people from the local community.
FreshStop Heidelberg offers customers a range of fresh fruit and vegetables, a variety of grocery items and a Grab n Go section with fresh sandwiches, wraps, drinks and pies; and, to perk up weary travellers, there is great coffee on offer at the Seattle Coffee bar with Barista service. In addition the site offers diners a KFC and a Spur Grill & Go outlet. The premises also has modern clean bathrooms available for customers.
