On 24 May 2018, the Landman family opened FreshStop at Caltex CLB Fruits at Farm Letabadrift, on the corner of the R529 and D1597, outside of Letsitele in Limpopo. This brand new FreshStop at Caltex site boasts a fuel forecourt with new pumps and tanks and the full range of Caltex fuels with Techron; while the modern and fresh FreshStop store offers the local community the best in convenience shopping.
According to Store Retailer and oldest son, Hertzog Landman, CLB Fruits was named after his late father who started the business. “CLB stands for Christie Landman Boerdery, which is named after my late father, Christie Landman, who started the family business. There are four children and we are 3rd generation farmers but we’ve decided to diversify our business interests by entering the fuel retail industry,” says Hertzog.
FreshStop at Caltex CLB Fruits was developed with the community front-of-mind and it was Hertzog’s late father’s vision to establish a one-stop shop to service the needs of the community. “My father lived here his whole life and knew exactly what was needed in this area and being born and bred here myself, I feel that we have an innate understanding of what the community’s needs and wants are,” explains Hertzog.
The convenience store offers a selection of fresh fruit and vegetables, a range of grocery items as well as a diversity of fresh and ready-made food options. The site also provides a self-service Lavazza coffee offering as well as two secure ATMs, Capitec and ABSA, where locals can safely draw money.
In addition to offering the community a modern shopping destination, the store has also created 20 new jobs for people from the local area. “Despite being located out of town, we are easily accessible on foot for local communities and in this way we are able to save them time and money, and be truly ‘convenient’. I feel very excited and we’re all looking forward to this new venture in a completely new industry for us,” adds Hertzog.
