FreshStop, South Africa’s largest and fastest growing convenience retail brand, opened its 291st store on 29 November 2018 at 23 Main Street in Flagstaff, Eastern Cape. The entire site was built from scratch and now features a fresh, modern FreshStop convenience store and a brand new Caltex fuel forecourt.

Store Retailers, Sinovuyo Makongwana and Nyana Makongwana, who are both Flagstaff locals, bring with them business experience in urban and regional planning; and IT and retail.

According to the Makongwana’s, “We are ecstatic about the opening as we’ve been working on this project for the past seven years. For the longest time Flagstaff was just a congested ‘pass-by dorpie’ but that has since changed. We are now seeing tourists stopping, filling up and freshening up. This has had an impact on the local economy as revenue has increased, and it’s a good thing for the local municipality. We foresee a ripple effect on surrounding businesses as the property values improve and, in so doing, encourage more business growth”.

FreshStop Flagstaff offers customers a range of fresh fruit and vegetables, a variety of grocery items, and a Grab n Go section with a wide selection of snacks and refreshments such as fresh sandwiches, wraps, drinks and pies. For a daily boost, customers can stop by for a great cup of Lavazza coffee.

The opening of the FreshStop at Caltex Flagstaff site also created employment for 37 staff, most of whom are from the local community.

We wish Sino, Nyana and their team all the best for the opening of this 291st FreshStop at Caltex Flagstaff store.

FreshStop, named International Convenience Retailer of the Year 2013 and finalist of the 2017 International Convenience Retailer of the Year Award, is South Africa’s fastest growing 24-hour convenience store brand and has a network of 291 stores countrywide.
