New FreshStop store opens in JHB South offering a holistic taste and shopping experience
The development of the site has been community-focused fromthe start in its motivation, planning and operation. Store Retailer, Nhlanhla Zondo, aims to build sustainable relationships with the local community through offering preferential employment to local community members and sourcing specific products such as wood and ice from local suppliers.
“This is a new site so we will be focused on empowering local people from the Jackson community. We are employing 18 individuals for the store and forecourt and prioritising local people who meet the recruitment criteria,” says Zondo.
Zondo is an accomplished electrical engineer with more than 25 years’ business experience and has held various leadership roles in South Africa. He is currently a registered Professional Engineer with ECSA as well as Director at Msebe Investment Holdings (Pty) Ltd.
Apart from the usual quality selection of fresh fruit and vegetables and a range of grocery items, FreshStop Eikenhof will offer its customers great coffee at its full-service Seattle Coffee bar with Barista service, and FreshStop’s very popular in-house food brands Crispy Chicken and Grill to Go will be serving hot crispy chicken, great burgers, ribs and grilled chicken meals. An ATM will soon be installed.
“Our fuel forecourt provides easier access to fuel for the local community, without having to travel long distances. In addition, our upmarket FreshStop convenience store provides fresh, healthy produce as well as fast, hot meals with the best coffee, which make us a destination shopping experience for the community as well as travellers and commuters.
“This has been an exciting journey as this is the first retail outlet which we have ventured into that has both a petrol station combined with a food retailer. Our years of experience in the food retail and petroleum industries enables us to provide our customers with the best shopping and service experience and we are extremely excited about this opening,” concludes Zondo.
