A newly-built Astron Energy fuel forecourt and FreshStop store opened at the corner of Vereeniging (R82) and R550 Roads in Eikenhof, JHB South on 2 September. The development of the site has been community-focused from the start in its motivation, planning and operation. Store Retailer, Nhlanhla Zondo, aims to build sustainable relationships with the local community through offering preferential employment to local community members and sourcing specific products such as wood and ice from local suppliers.
“This is a new site so we will be focused on empowering local people from the Jackson community. We are employing 18 individuals for the store and forecourt and prioritising local people,” says Zondo.
Zondo is an accomplished electrical engineer with 25 years’ plus business experience and has held various leadership roles in SA. He is currently a registered Professional Engineer with ECSA as well as Director at Msebe Investment Holdings (Pty) Ltd.
FreshStop Eikenhof will offer customers a full-service Seattle Coffee bar with Barista service, and our very popular in-house food brands Crispy Chicken and Grill to Go.
“Our site provides easier access to fuel for the local community, without having to travel long distances; and our c-store provides fresh, healthy produce as well as fast, hot meals with the best coffee.
“This has been an exciting journey as this is our first retail outlet that has both a petrol station combined with a food retailer. Our years of experience in the food retail and petroleum industries enables us to provide our customers with the best shopping and service experience and we are extremely excited about this opening,” concludes Zondo.
