FreshStop at Caltex, the largest and fastest growing convenience store retail brand in South Africa, opened its 336th store on 18 March 2021 at FreshStop at Caltex Starstop Machado on the N4 highway outside of Machadodorp in Mpumalanga. Apart from the brand-new convenience store, the entire facility and Caltex fuel forecourt has been refreshed with new signage and branding.
In addition to the quality, consistent offering of fresh fruit and vegetables, a variety of grocery items, and a Grab n Go section with pies, sandwiches and refreshments, FreshStop at Caltex Starstop Machado offers local residents and travellers hot takeaway food brands such as Crispy Chicken, Grill to Go and Sausage Saloon; and a great coffee selection at the Seattle Coffee bar. As the area is known for its remarkable freshwater fishing, the store will stock fresh and frozen local trout and a local favourite, the Trout Pie, will be available baked for direct consumption or frozen for home preparation.
Kobus Klopper, the Site Retailer, has many years’ experience in the retail fuel industry and ran several sites successfully. “I am a go-getter and always aim for the best results possible. We offer convenience at an affordable price and a product range that caters to all needs. For extra convenience, we have 24/7 dining available as well as a play area for kids. Over weekends we run a flea market, which gives the local community a place to get out to and enjoy the fresh air,” says Klopper.
The opening of the FreshStop has resulted in the creation of 10 additional jobs for people from the local community, and they have already started reaching out to people in the area through charity work, with the CMR and local old age home being beneficiaries.
