The 310th FreshStop at Caltex store opened in Port Edward, a small town located on the border of the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal provinces, on 17 October 2019 on the corner of the R61 and Owen Ellis Drive. The site, originally opened in the 1950’s, is the only fuel station in Port Edward and has been completely rebuilt with a brand new Caltex fuel forecourt and modern FreshStop convenience store.

According to Gary Highcock, the Store Retailer, he is very excited about the opening and is sure that his Grill to Go chicken tastes the best in town. “We are most excited about our in-store Grill to Go outlet, which I absolutely believe serves the best tasting and best priced grilled chicken in town. We have three other chicken outlets in the area and I think it tastes better than all of them. We will also be offering our customers a Hot Dog Bar and great food selection that includes hot takeaway meals,” says Gary.

Apart from the Grill to Go and Hot Dog Bar outlets, the FreshStop Port Edward store offers customers a range of fresh fruit and vegetables, a variety of grocery items, a Grab n Go section with pies, sandwiches and refreshments, and a House of Coffees self-service coffee station. For additional convenience, an FNB ATM is available on-site.

Gary, who has owned and operated the Caltex Port Edward station since 2004, previously worked in the copper and platinum mining industry in Zambia and Phalaborwa for close to 30 years. He is passionate about the business and employs 43 staff, of which nine are new appointments from the local communities.

“I think the FreshStop at Caltex Port Edward site is going to have a major impact on the local community as we’ll be offering the most competitive pricing around. We are also looking forward to providing excellent food and refreshment service to the busses that stop to fill up on diesel before crossing the border into the Eastern Cape. We want to impress them with our great food, great prices and great service,” adds Gary.

We wish Gary and his team all the best for the opening of this 310th FreshStop at Caltex Port Edward store.
