FreshStop at Caltex, South Africa’s largest and fastest-growing convenience store retail brand, opened its 296th store on the corner of Heinrich and Walter Streets in Kriel, Mpumalanga on 13 December 2018. Located opposite the Kriel Mall, the previously unbranded store has been completely renovated into a FreshStop store and the Caltex fuel forecourt has new pumps, tanks, and canopy.
The site is owned and managed by local mother and daughter team, Ina Howard and Zunaid Janse van Rensburg. Ina has 31 years’ experience in the fuel retail industry and her daughter, Zunaid, having grown up in the fuel retail industry, went on to study Safety Management after school. She was appointed as the youngest Safety Manager in history at Anglo American and has 10 years’ experience in the coal mining industry. She has since left corporate to assist her mother in managing FreshStop at Caltex Mega Motors.
FreshStop Mega Motors offers customers a range of fresh fruit and vegetables, a variety of grocery items, and a Grab n Go section with a wide selection of snacks and refreshments such as fresh sandwiches, drinks, and pies. The food offering includes Crispy Chicken and Grill to Go outlets as well as the Pitstop Café that will offer a range of hot meals and takeaways. There is also a Caturra coffee bar, Capitec ATM and carwash on site for added convenience.
In addition to all the extra product and service offerings available, the opening of FreshStop Mega Motors has created 13 new jobs, with a total of 27 people being employed from the local community.
According to Zunaid Janse van Rensburg, FreshStop Mega Motors will provide a variety of new food offerings, weekly specials, new products and 24/7 convenience. “As a young entrepreneur, I am extremely excited about the new venture and I look forward to taking the business forward,” says Zunaid.
