FreshStop, the largest and fastest-growing franchise convenience store retail brand in South Africa, opened its latest store at 21-25 Boshoff Street in Pietermaritzburg on 22 August 2019. FreshStop at Caltex Boshoff Street has not only created a plethora of new jobs but has also brought new energy and excitement to the area.
The retailers have invested well in the site and are excited about bringing a convenient, accessible and quality shopping experience to local businesses in the area. The site has also created employment for 36 people in total, most of whom are from the local area. The upgraded Caltex fuel forecourt, which is closely situated to many Pietermaritzburg landmarks such as the Thistle Hotel, features Nedbank and ABSA ATMs, a car wash offering full house services and valets, and a deck where clients can relax and unwind.
The FreshStop Boshoff Street store offers customers a range of fresh fruit and vegetables, a variety of grocery items, a Grab n Go section with pies and takeaway hot food items as well as snacks and refreshments. There is also a full Seattle Coffee bar with Barista service and a Grill to Go outlet in-store.
The site is owned by Paul Miller, Luis Farias and Stephen Herbert. Whilst Paul and Luis own their own successful fuel retail sites, Stephen comes from a logistics background and has been a supplier to the fuel industry for 20 years.
According to Stephen, “Having lived and gone to school in Pietermaritzburg, this site has special meaning to me. It’s a privilege to firstly, be able to invest in the local community and work on a project that gives back to the people in employment and services; and secondly, offer the very best in convenience shopping in the Pietermaritzburg area.
