FreshStop, the fastest growing convenience retail brand in South Africa with 246 stores, has recently introduced three new lines to its in-house fast food brands and uptake has been extremely positive. The fast food lines that were recently launched include Hooked on Fish, Grill to Go, Doughnut Delite, Mr Brown’s and Biltong Bars.
In addition, Crispy Chicken, which was introduced in December 2013, continues to grow from strength to strength and already boasts 29 outlets nationally, and a further 15 outlets are planned to open in 2017. “Crispy Chicken has totally exceeded our expectations and we continue to receive very encouraging feedback from our customers,” says Craig Davis, New Category Development Manager at FreshStop. “Trading from just 5m2, the Crispy Chicken outlets contribute up to 18% of sales in stores, which is amazing.”
FreshStop offers both its retailers and customers a number of exciting food concepts, with the latest new food concept being a hotdog outlet in Cape Town – Vusi’s Hotdogs opened at FreshStop Gie Road in Table View in mid-November 2016. “Looking at both local and international trends, hotdogs are the next growth opportunity. It is also a cost effective concept for our retailers to implement,” adds Davis.
FreshStop’s approach provides Store Retailers with a basket of offerings to choose from to suit their specific customer base and location, at affordable entry costs. According to Joe Boyle, Director at FreshStop, “Our Store Retailers want to be in a position to offer their customers new brands and food lines to attract shoppers and drive sales. Convenience retail brands must have a solid food service strategy to be successful in today’s rapidly changing environment and our selection of fast food concepts with low costs of entry and shared operational expenses form part of the future view of our business”.
FreshStop, named International Convenience Retailer of the Year 2013, is South Africa’s fastest growing 24-hour convenience store brand and has a network of 246 stores countrywide.
