FreshStop, the largest and fastest growing convenience retail brand in South Africa, has opened its 286th store on the Caltex fuel forecourt on the corner of Lansdowne and Hammer Roads in Philippi and its new food offering includes a Crispy Chicken outlet. It is the first Crispy Chicken in the area and according to Leslie Julies, the Store Retailer, they are expecting it be extremely well-liked. “The Crispy Chicken menu has been popular wherever it’s opened and I believe the same will be true here; but mostly I am excited to offer my community a new quality offering and really be of service to them,” explains Julies.
In addition to the brand new FreshStop at Caltex Phambili store, the Caltex fuel forecourt has also been upgraded and features a refurbished canopy, new tanks and the latest 20/20 branding. New pumps will also be installed in the near future.
The store, which officially opened its doors on 3 October 2018, offers customers, local residents and commuters a range of fresh fruit and vegetables, a variety of grocery items and a Grab n Go section with fresh sandwiches, wraps, drinks and pies. “We are very excited to bring additional food choices to our customers as we have introduced a Lavazza Coffee self-service machine and ATMs will soon be installed. It is extremely important to us that this FreshStop is a facility for the community in terms of accessibility and a new refreshed offering. I want them to enjoy their shopping experience and look forward to visiting us,” says Leslie.
The Store Retailer, Leslie Julies, has owned the site since 1995 and is also a business advisor for business partnerships in and around Cape Town. “FreshStop at Caltex Phambili is a family run business and we all work hard, assist one another and have a role to play to make it a successful operation. We currently have a staff complement of 20 people but expect to create more employment as the business flourishes,” explains Leslie.
