On 24 January 2019, the brand new FreshStop at Caltex Goodwill site opened its doors to the community of Crown Mines at the corner of Main Reef Road and Hanover Street, Crown Mines in Johannesburg. The previous old Shell garage was completely demolished and rebuilt into a state-of-the-art Caltex fuel forecourt and 24-hour FreshStop convenience store that now offers residents and commuters Grill to Go and Hooked on Fish outlets as well as a range of hot food takeaways and a Seattle Coffee bar with Barista service.
The Caltex fuel forecourt now offers customers two additional islands, which allows improved traffic flow and faster, more efficient service. There is also improved safety on-site with the new fencing, lighting and increased parking facilities.
Brothers and Store Retailers, Mohammed Ferouze Moosa and Asif Moosa, come with years of customer experience gained in the FMCG manufacturing sphere and Quick-Service Restaurant industry – so they know how to maintain food standards and keep customers happy. The brothers have been active in the community for years and are well-known. “We are passionate about customer service and meeting the needs of the local community – from the housewife looking for a her fruit and vegetables to the sales rep looking for a quick snack; or the coffee enthusiast looking for his daily fix to the passing customer looking to fill up with fuel and refresh with a snack, meal or a cool drink,” explains Mohammed.
In addition to the new food offerings such as the Grill to Go and Hooked on Fish outlets, and the Seattle Coffee bar with Barista service, the store will offer customers a range of fresh fruit and vegetables, a variety of grocery items, and a Grab n Go section with a wide selection of snacks and refreshments such as fresh sandwiches, drinks and pies. In addition, the Pitstop Café will offer a selection of hot takeaway meals and there’ll be FNB and Standard Bank ATMs on site. Standard Bank UCount, Star Cards and Fleet Cards are all accepted.
Due to the conversion of the site and the fact that it is one of the largest FreshStop stores in the country, many new jobs have been created for people from the local community. It will also, therefore, be well-stocked to service customer needs, from fresh fruit and vegetables to braai packs, daily groceries and imported sweets. “Our investment into the upgrade shows we understand the future of the area and the needs of the people who live and work in it. FreshStop Goodwill’s main objective is to provide service and convenience to the local communities as well as the diverse group of people working in and around the area,” says Asif.
According to both brothers, they are very excited about the opening and look forward to bringing a fresh look and feel to the area. “We are excited to offer a safe and friendly hang out with friends for a meal. A place to bring your kids if you want to spoil them with a walk through our sweet alley or even to get away from the hustle and bustle for a peaceful cup of coffee”, they add.
We wish Mohammed, Asif and their team all the best for the opening of this 298th FreshStop at Caltex Goodwill store.
