On 10 December 2020, FreshStop’s 335th store officially opened at 70 Albany Road, Port Alfred in the Eastern Cape. This new-to-industry site, which had previously been a BP station for 40 years, was raised to the ground to make way for a new, modern Astron Energy fuel forecourt and a FreshStop R72 store with generous parking facilities.
Store Retailers and business partners, Paull Griffiths, Mark Shelton and Jon Campbell, are local residents who are very active in community affairs and are very proud to have created 32 new jobs for people from the local communities as a result of the opening of this site. Paul preciously worked for Chicory SA advising farmers on the production of chicory for coffee production, whilst Mark and Jon have been retailers all their lives.
FreshStop R72 offers local residents, commuters and travellers a range of fresh fruit and vegetables, a variety of grocery items, and a Grab n Go section with pies, sandwiches and refreshments. In addition, hungry customers can grab a tasty bite at the Crispy Chicken outlet and a great cup of coffee at the Seattle Coffee bar with Barista service. Still peckish? Why not pick up some snacks from the Biltong Bar. “We have focused on providing our customers with a consistently excellent selection of food and service options that will make their lives easier and tastier. To round off our offering, we have an ATM on site as well as world-class toilet facilities and plenty of secure parking,” says Griffiths.
According to the Store Retailers, they aim to offer the best fuel forecourt service and convenience shopping at competitive prices, so as to provide local Port Alfred residents with an experience they will appreciate. “I am extremely excited and nervous about the opening but we look forward to serving our customers with passion and excellence in the coming years,” concludes Griffiths.
