The opening of the new FreshStop at Caltex site located at 1 Rozel Road in Widenham, Umkomaas in KwaZulu-Natal on 19 November 2020 has resulted in 29 new jobs being created for people from the local communities. In addition to a modern FreshStop store, the previous BP site has been converted into a brand-new Caltex with a resurfaced and rebuilt fuel forecourt, boasting new tanks, pumps and canopy.
Forming part of the Halfway Malanda Toyota dealership that offers sales, service and parts, the store is located in a very popular area for tourists, divers and fishermen who take advantage of the area’s world-renowned marine protected status.
FreshStop at Caltex Widenham’s management team forms part of JGB Holdings with George Baikie as Chairman of the Halfway Group, which is renowned for its multi-franchised dealerships, forecourts and c-stores. Prolific CEO, Cyril Malanda, and Dealer Principals, Suresh Sewbaran and Jenny Ledger, and the new Service Station Manager, Lyle Page, make up a dynamic team whose ethos is to uplift and employ from the local community.
FreshStop at Caltex Widenham offers visitors and locals a range of fresh fruit and vegetables, a variety of grocery items, and a Grab n Go section with fresh pies, sandwiches and refreshments. “In addition to our normal quality offering, we are very excited to introduce the very popular Grill to Go outlet and a House of Coffees coffee bar in-store. The site also sells health essentials, Lotto and has an ATM.
According to the Manager, Lyle Page, they are very excited to service the vibrant community of Widenham and surrounds. “We will be available 24-hours a day to provide locals and passing travellers the best of what FreshStop at Caltex has to offer,” says Page.
